25 October 2019. Skopje, North Macedonia. Each year, the 43rd week of the calendar year is designated by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) as European Safety and Health Week. This year’s week is in support of the current campaign: “Healthy Workplaces Manage Dangerous Substances”.
As a part of the activities, Solway and its subsidiary, the DOO Bucim copper mine, joined EU-OSHA’s campaign collaborators in North Macedonia to promote an interactive dialogue and exchange of best practices to ensure effective risk prevention and raise awareness of workplace safety and health issues.
At the meeting, which was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy in cooperation with the National Council for Safety and Health at Work in Skopje, Bucim DOO Radovish presented its own OSH practices for managing hazardous substances in the workplace.
Solway continuously invests in the safety and health of its employees and strives to create a preventative culture to eliminate and manage risks to its employees’ safety and health. In 2019, three of Solway’s subsidiaries in Ukraine, North Macedonia, and Russia were among the first companies operating in those regions to be awarded the international certificate ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety management systems.
